Business Consulting | Bentonville, AR
A boutique consulting practice built for founders and operators who are building something real — and need a guide who has been in the same terrain.
Who We Are
"Let's get some daylight in the swamp" is an old 19th-century rallying cry used by lumberjacks in the Northwoods of Michigan to wake up crews and start the workday.
Daylight Outfitter is a boutique business consulting practice built for founders and operators who are building something real — and need a guide who has been in the same terrain.
We work with you in the field — on the trail, on the water, in the woods — because that's where the best thinking happens. Away from the noise of the office, without the performance of the conference table, founders stop presenting their business and start telling the truth about it. That's where real consulting begins.
Our approach combines Fortune 500 brand discipline with scratch-built operational experience. We've managed $685M national brand portfolios and built an award-winning 200+ employee restaurant company from the ground up. We've been in the fog of a startup and found daylight. We know the trail.

The Philosophy
Most business consultants meet you in a boardroom and hand you a deck. Daylight Outfitter meets you on a mountain bike trail, a duck blind, or a boat — and that difference is the entire point.
When you're outside, the noise drops. The defensiveness drops. The gap between what you say about your business and what you actually feel about it closes.
Outdoor environments reduce cortisol, increase creative thinking, and lower the social performance instinct that keeps founders from admitting what's really broken.
This is a delivery model built around a truth: people think differently outside. And when founders think differently, they build differently.
The Daylight Method
The Daylight Method is a four-phase consulting framework designed to move founders from fog to forward — with clarity on vision, brand, operations, and implementation at every step.
Before you can move forward, you have to see where you are.
An immersive founder interview conducted outdoors, followed by a current state business audit across five dimensions: revenue model, brand identity, operational systems, team structure, and personal vision alignment.
We identify the one or two "load-bearing" problems that everything else is built on.
"You can't navigate what you won't name."
Strategy without ground truth is just a story you tell yourself.
Vision work, brand positioning, competitive mapping, operations audit, and team architecture review. Porter's Value Chain + Jobs-to-Be-Done + Theory of Constraints applied to operator context.
We stress-test your unit economics and identify the top three operational constraints holding growth hostage.
"Do the real work where real things grow."
A clear path is built, not found.
90-day, 1-year, and 3-year priorities with ruthless specificity. The Critical Path — the sequence of moves that must happen in order. Resource mapping across money, time, people, and attention.
OKR Framework + 90-Day Sprint Planning + Rockefeller Habits applied at operator scale.
"You don't find the trail. You cut it."
This is what you were building toward.
Bi-weekly accountability check-ins conducted outdoors. Sprint reviews against Trail Map milestones. Quarterly recalibration — does the Trail Map still reflect reality?
Annual Summit Review — a full-day immersive session to assess progress, celebrate wins, and set the next horizon.
"Keep moving. You can see it from here."
Engagement Options
Two formats built around the same four-phase curriculum, designed to meet founders wherever they are in the journey.
The full four-phase Daylight Method delivered over 90 days. Immersive, comprehensive, and built for founders who are ready to do the complete work. This is the engagement that produces the deepest transformation — from diagnostic truth-finding through strategic clarity to implementation accountability.
The Expedition is capacity-constrained by design. We take a limited number of Expedition clients per year to ensure every engagement receives full attention.
Day Hike Intensives
Phase 1 discovery & diagnostic intensive. One outdoor session + The Clearing Report.
Phase 2 strategic analysis. Brand positioning, competitive mapping, ops audit.
Phase 3 planning & roadmap. 90-day sprint plan with owners and decision gates.
Phase 4 ongoing accountability coaching with bi-weekly check-ins.
The outdoor delivery model is inherently premium and capacity-constrained. Engagements are not discounted. Scarcity is a feature of the model, not a limitation.
Who We Serve
Founders in the 1–3 location growth stage who have outgrown their own knowledge base.
Navigating the gap between idea and implementation with real skin in the game.
Entrepreneurs who need a strategic partner, not just a vendor or a coach.
Leaders who are ready to do honest, hard work — and aren't afraid to do it outside.
Our ideal client is someone who has proven enough to know they need help, and is grounded enough to receive it directly. They want a guide who has run at both the national brand scale and the independent operator level simultaneously. That's a rare combination — and it's what we bring.
Field Experience Fees
All field experience fees are discussed and agreed upon during engagement scoping before any work begins. The outdoor delivery model has associated costs — we share them openly.
